First look at The New Characters from The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die

First look at the new characters from The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die

There's only a month left until the premiere of Seven Kings Must Die, Netflix's new The Last Kingdom movie that's set to conclude the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg. It's been an amazing journey for Uhtred, a Saxon who was raised as a Dain and spent his life fighting to take back his ancestral home. We finally see Uhtred's dream come true at the end of Season 5, but he has more to do before he finally hangs up his sword.

Seven Kings Must Die is a two-hour independent film that adapts events from Bernard Cornwell's last three Saxon Tales novels. He obviously won't be able to cover all three books in one movie, so we think it's going to be a lot of swapping things around to make it all work. But one thing we expect is for there to be a major battle, with some of the titular seven monarchs turning their powers in the wake of King Edward's death.

"First look at Ingilmundr from The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Who Must Die"

There's quite a bit of conjecture going on as to who exactly the Seven Kings are from the title, but we might as well have a look at the former. The official Last Kingdom Twitter account shared a first-look image of Ingilmundr, the new character who will make his debut in the movie. We're not 100 percent sure who he'll be playing yet, but based on Cornwell's books, we're expecting him to play a significant role in the movie.

Ingilmundr is a Danish chief who first appears in War of the Wolf, the 11th of Cornwell's books (of a total of 13). His influence is felt until the end of the series, where he has a role in the tragic events affecting Uhtred's family. I think we might end up hating this guy before all is said and done.

The Last Kingdom Twitter has also released a look at another character who will appear in the movie, and this one we can say without a doubt is one of the Seven Kings from the title: King Constantine, ruler of Alba (Scotland). First appearing in Season 5, Constantin (Rod Hallett) is a shrewd captain who has already made one attempt to upset the balance in Northumbria. Has he been holding a grudge since his defeat at Beppanburg? What will inspire you to take up a sword and shield this time?

We'll find out when The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die premieres on Netflix on April 14th. In the meantime, keep an eye on this space and The Last Kingdom's Twitter account. We still have at least five more kings to meet.
