One of the biggest concerns heading into House of the Dragon isn't just how it makes up for Game of Thrones' divisive ending, but how it will differentiate itself from that series. While many of the locations in the House of the Dragon trailer will be familiar to Game of Thrones watchers, including the throne room, the King's Landing, and the Targaryen Dragonstone ancestral home, the period in which the show takes place allows for a few variations that are sure to please a song from Ice and fire fanatics. Perhaps the exact book on the Iron Throne is even more exciting, as the words around it are closer to Martin's original vision of a seat of power.
The most important thing is the dragons. While Game of Thrones was short on mythical creatures during the series' early years, dragons were eventually introduced when Daenerys raised three. The House of the Dragon will have a lot of dragon action, though, thanks in part to the fact that infighting between Targaryens allows for dragon war on the dragon. Unfortunately, the House of the Dragon trailer is light on that. HBO will probably provide the more difficult-to-move elements of another trailer or the show itself. One of the things the trailer shows is something every Game of Thrones fan will love - palace intrigues, ever-changing political allegiances, and a return to Westeros. House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21.
