The Vampire Diaries: 5 Real-life Friendships
Welcome back to Nation. The Vampire Diaries is without a doubt one of the best vampires shows ever. For eight seasons, the show has thoroughly entertained audiences with its incredible stories and larger-than-life characters. Much credit for the success of The Vampire Diaries can be contributed to the talented actors who brought the new characters to life and made their portrayal unforgettable. While without a doubt, the chemistry between these actors through their characters is what kept the show going. We have witnessed many relationships, friendships, and interactions between the characters. But this was on screen, and the bigger question is do the Vampire Diaries actors share a friendship as strong off-screen?
IAN SOMERHALDER & PAUL WESLEY
Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley played the brothers on screen. The Salvatore brothers will fight like dogs but will sacrifice themselves for each other. Many believe that The Vampire Diaries is the story of these two brothers, and how they improve their strained relationship. The actors who portrayed Stefan and Damon are close to the brothers in real life. It's very clear from their reunions, appearances, and social media interactions that the actors share an amazing chemistry. The two actors launched a business together, launching "Brother's Bond Bourbon" which had successful sales across the country.
DANIEL GILLIES & JOSEPH MORGAN
Another pair of brothers who were friends, then enemies, and finally brothers. The originals would not have been possible without Elijah and Klaus. Although the relationship between Klaus and Elijah was more tense and damaged than that of Stefan and Damon. But off-screen, these two have shared an amazing working relationship. They were such good friends that they made crazy pranks on each other. There have been several occasions where pranks have gone too far, but everything was fine in the end. While working on the originals, the actors will try to best perform in the pranks department. They will take over each other's parking spaces. Once Daniel parked his jeep in Joseph Morgan's place in a slash style. Poor Joseph had to find a new place to park his car. Joseph returned to Daniel with another joke. Things escalated when Daniel tried to get the best of Morgan, tried to park his car as close to Morgan as possible, but ended up crashing his car. He scraped the side of Morgan's car and was embarrassed by the whole experience. He offered damage coverage to Morgan, and they both remained on great terms.
PAUL WESLEY & NINA DOBREV
While Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley's chemistry in The Vampire Diaries resulted in one of the most epic love stories in television history, Stelena. Many believe that something is going on with the actors, and they are often asked if they are dating in real life. But Nina Dobrev surprised the world when she revealed that the two didn't get along for the first few months, they kind of hated each other. The hatred was so much that it gave the impression that it was love. However, after a few months, their communication and relationship improved. Nina commented that she couldn't imagine anyone other than Paul Wesley playing Stefan. He was the right person who made the role even better. She considers Paul one of her closest friends and said that their friendship will last forever.
CLAIRE HOLT & PHOEBE TONKIN
For TVD Universe fans, they will always be Rebecca and Hailey, while many will remember them as Emma and Cleo from H20: Just Add Water. The two came from Australia and started their careers at the same time. Show H20: Just Add Water gave their careers a huge boost and opened up a lot of opportunities for these two. Then The Vampire Diaries and Originals made them successful stars all over the world. Even though the originals ended in 2018, these two have remained close ever since. In 2021, Claire's husband, Andrew, posted a photo on Instagram in which Phoebe and Claire appeared with the girls. Phoebe can be seen carrying Claire's daughter Ellie. Phoebe revealed that she was 15 years old when she first met Claire. When I moved to Los Angeles in search of opportunities, I stayed at Claire's. Claire helped Tonkin as she was trying to become a career.
IAN SOMERHALDER & KAT GRAHAM
One of the most surprising friendships in the world of TVD was with Bonnie and Damon. No one saw these two become friends. She hated Bonnie Damon and couldn't stand it. It turns out that Kat Graham who played Bonnie didn't have to fake her feelings she couldn't stand Ian at first. However, over time they got closer. Kat Graham revealed that she was trying to find herself and Ian played an important role in helping her find herself. Kat Ian counts as one of her inspirations. Ian and Kat have remained good friends to this date. Kat is also a great friend of Nikki Reed, wife of Ian Somerhalder.
