Season 10 of The Goldbergs has confirmed that it will be talking about Jeff Garlin's exit
ABC is illuminating the tenth season of Goldbergs, which will address Jeff Garlin's departure by writing his character out of the show early in the season.
ABC confirms that season 10 of The Goldbergs will take place and will address Jeff Garlin's exit from the show. Garlin took his exit from the successful '80s streak in December 2021 after an HR investigation into his specific behavior. The actor has been under investigation for three years, stemming from allegations that he exhibited a "pattern of verbal and physical behavior" on set that upset the cast and crew. Garlin and Sony Pictures Television eventually reached a mutual agreement that called for his departure from Goldbergs.
Garlin has played patriarch Murray Goldberg in the series since it premiered in 2013. After he left the show, subsequent episodes of The Goldbergs Season 9 used pre-recorded dialogue and the double body of Murray's character on whom Garlin's face is fixed in post-production. Back in March, Goldberg's co-star Wendy McClendon Covey broke her silence regarding Garlin's exit, tweeting that "the season threw them for an episode," especially because the creators "were not about to rewrite the second half of the chapter." Now, it looks like the 10th season of Goldbergs will be easier to deal with Garlin's exit.
TVLine reports that ABC has renewed The Goldbergs for season 10. In addition to this, the show will also deal with Garlin's departure. Although not many details have been revealed, Murray will be directed from the series early in the season. More information will certainly be revealed once Season 10 approaches its premiere date.
Unfortunately, Garlin's exit from The Goldbergs Season 9 didn't happen on his own. Before her debut, cast member George Segal died at the age of 87 due to complications during bypass surgery. During the season 9 premiere of The Goldbergs, the series honored Segal and revealed his character, Pops, who died peacefully in his sleep. With Goldbergs averaging over 4 million viewers per week, making it the second most-watched ABC show, it was inevitable that the network renewed the show for another season. However, it remains to be seen how the series will address Garlin's exit.
Based on the life of Goldberg's author Adam F. Goldberg, the '80s-titled series has received critical acclaim since its first season. Critics praised the strong cast and admired each character. While some fans may be sad to see the end of Murray Goldberg, they can rest assured knowing that season 10 of The Goldbergs is, in fact, in the making. However, with more time on their hands, we hope the writers can come up with a fun way to write the character of Garlin. It may seem hard to assume Murray is dead, but it can be hard to pressure the creative team to find another way to get the patriarch to take his leave. The audience will find out what will happen soon enough.
