Klaus's late funeral in Legacies is due to how the original vampires died - but it was also the most thing Mikaelson does.

In the latest episode of Legacies, a funeral was held for Klaus Mikkelson, but it's already been years since his death at the end of The Originals. Watch Legacies Season 4 Episode 15 "All That May Be Lost May Also Be Found" What remains of the Mikaelson family has an intervention for Hope (Daniel Rose Russell), using a spell to cast her astronomically on New Orleans to be with them. Another reason their family came together, though, was to put Klaus (Joseph Morgan) from The Originals to rest after his death, along with his brother, Elijah (Daniel Gillis), in the original's finale.

The Legacies episode saw quite a few casts from the original characters, including Aunts Hope and Rebekah (Claire Holt), Freya (Riley Voelkel), Uncle Cole (Nathaniel Buzolic), and Uncle Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). It's a good time for them to finally get back together. Hope has been struggling since turning to Tribrid and dehumanizing her in Season 4. She was cold, ruthless, and utterly indifferent to the feelings of those who used to be her closest friends and allies, to the point where she began to -destroy. As if that wasn't enough, the Mikkelson family banded together to say goodbye to their former boss, Klaus.

At first, it was pretty baffling when Rebecca explained to Hope that the jazz funeral procession in the French Quarter was for Klaus, not just for the audience, but for Hope herself. As she referred suspiciously to her aunts, Klaus died three years ago. The much-delayed funeral was due to the death of the original vampires - but it was also the most frequently done thing by Mikaelson. When, in the finale of The Originals, Klaus and Elijah bet on each other, they turn to ashes and drift across the New Orleans sky. As such, what was left of Klaus was floating in the ether. Using magic, Freya and Rebecca have spent the past few years traveling and collecting his ashes for hope, family pride, and joy.
