The Female character in Vikings: Valhalla "Freydis" is the first shield maiden as Lagertha, but how powerful She is to Lagertha?
Vikings: Valhalla has her first armor in Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and along with the Vikings, she is the main female character, so how does she compare to the legendary Vikings heroine Lagertha? Created by Michael Hearst, Vikings has become one of the most successful historical dramas of recent years, debuting on The History Channel in 2013 and ending in 2020 after six seasons filled with battles, betrayals, alliances, and more. However, six seasons do not cover all the thrillers from the Viking Age, and so a sequel was announced in 2019.
Vikings: Valhalla, the series takes place more than a century after the events of the Vikings and thus follows a new generation of warriors and enemies, some of related to the main characters from the original series. Valhalla focuses on Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) as they go on a journey that takes them across oceans and battlefields, all with the conflict between the Vikings and the English royal family (pagans against Christians) as the backdrop. The tension between these two sides is the basis of Freydís' arc, which arrives at Kattegat with Leif and his companions seeking revenge, leading her down a path of self-discovery.
Freydís was on a personal mission to find the Christian man who raped her years ago and had a cross engraved on her back.
Lagertha (Catherine Winnick) was a fierce armor, queen of Kattegat, first wife of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), and mother of Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig). Lagertha was known for her courage and her honor, but she could also be fiercely ruthless and ambitious. Lagertha protected those who could not defend themselves, especially children and unarmed women, which has earned her the respect of those around her. Lagertha went through many traumatic experiences during the Vikings - from physical and mental abuse to being injured in battle multiple times - but she was always on her feet. Freydí shares many of these traits with Lagertha, and in terms of personality, she is as strong as Lagertha, although she is still not physically present yet. Already showing strong leadership skills, Freydís wasn't afraid to kill the man who offended her so many years ago, regardless of the consequences, something that resonates in Lagertha's character and actions.
When it comes to physical strength, Freydís is still in his prime. Vikings: Valhalla saw her join the Armored Haakon Girls and take the final test to become one. Friday struggled a bit during that test but didn't allow herself to be defeated, as if she didn't let Jarl Carr win and used her remaining strength to stab and decapitate him. Freydís has the potential to be as powerful as Lagertha in Vikings: Valhalla or more, but since her story is only just beginning, Lagertha now stands as the strongest armor in the Vikings world.
