As fans have been patiently waiting for the next big drop in Marvel's Avengers content, a leaker has claimed that new Thor content is on the way.
A leaker has claimed that Marvel's Avengers will get new content this year based on the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie. This will be the first significant piece of content for a live service title since Spider-Man was released as a PlayStation exclusive last year, although developers from Marvel's Avengers reaffirmed their commitment to boosting the game last month.
Although the game got off to a rough start, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics don't seem to be giving up on Marvel's Avengers anytime soon. Since its launch, the game has seen the addition of coveted characters like Black Panther, Hawkeye (both versions of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop), and Spider-Man, though it's still only available to PlayStation users. A bunch of new suits and cosmetics have been added as well, but the game's controversial loot systems and micro-ops make these additions less than ideal for many fans. The game has also seen some synergy with the hugely popular MCU films, a recent example being the arrival of Thor Ragnarok's armor on Marvel's Avengers.
Marvel's Avengers may not have seen this latest Thor movie content, according to tweets from leaker Miller on Twitter (via ComicBook). According to Miller, a new Jane Foster Thor character will be coming to the game. It comes after a long period of speculation surrounding the "Echo" characters and the brand's collaboration between the game and the movies. This content release is said to coincide with Thor: Love and Thunder, which is set to hit theaters this summer.
(9/9) I look forward to seeing Crystal Dynamics' interpretation of Jane Foster. A strong Season 2 for Marvel's Avengers is on the horizon, and direct synergy with Thor: Love and Thunder's impending marketing campaign is a compelling kickoff. pic.twitter.com/6m9QGXESms

Assuming this leak is accurate, some Marvel's Avengers fans might be disappointed to hear that they might have to wait until the movie's release date approaches in early July to get that content. With the current lull in new characters and meaningful expansions for the game (a problem not helped by what many see as Marvel's Avenger's pay-to-win features), players may be getting a little impatient. More content will almost certainly be released between now and July, but it may not be anything significant.
In a similar vein, some fans in their responses to Miller's tweets have raised concerns about Jane Foster's potential stature as an "Echo" character in Marvel's Avengers movie. At the moment, it's not clear if Foster will be an entirely new character with unique abilities and mechanics or just a re-emergence of Thor. Marvel's Avengers players will have to wait to hear an official confirmation from the game's developers for more concrete details.
