Welcome back to NationTV. For centuries, people have seen him as an urban legend, the beast that lurks in the shadows. The tormentor who rejoices in causing torment. The beast you dare not cross, the stuff of nightmares. But when Klaus Mikaelson finally showed up at Mystic Falls, he only led to chaos and destruction. Playing the main antagonist of the second season of The Vampire Diaries, the Original Hybrid proved to be too much for the Mystic Falls Gang. He crossed all limits to achieve his goals and didn't care who would get hurt in the process.
But for all his hostile inclinations, although Klaus harmed the fans' favorite, his interest in the fans grew. Klaus Mikaelson was a breath of fresh air on the show. His appeal can be understood from the fact that despite appearing in limited scenes, he was more popular than the Salvatores in seasons 2 and 3.
ELIJAH EXISTS DUE TO KLAUS
A highlight of Season 2 is Klaus Mikaelson who also made his Katherine Pierce debut, an introduction to the originals, the hybrid curse, and much more. While Elijah Mikaelson is the first original vampire to appear in The Vampire Diaries. He was followed by his half-brother Niklaus, but there is a reason for the delay in introducing the character of Klaus. Originally, the hybrid was supposed to appear earlier in the second season. The main reason for the delay was that the studio did not cast the actor for the role of Klaus. So the show makers created a new character for Elijah to advance the story until they find the right actor for the role of Klaus.
HE WAS NOT MEANT TO LAST LONG
There would be no originals without Klaus Mikaelson. He is arguably the most popular member of the Mickelson family. But you will be shocked to know that the character was supposed to meet his death in season 3. TVD Season 3 featured the extensive Mikaelson family including the witch Esther who was the season's main antagonist. She has turned Alaric into an improved original whose only job is to hunt down Klaus. Alaric ends up killing Klaus while Rebecca is left devastated. But we learn that Bonnie passed the spirit and essence of Klaus onto Tyler Lockwood.
The original plan was to bid farewell to the character of Klaus in the third season. Julie Blake revealed that the idea was to kill Klaus because he is the biggest bad villain and our heroes will eventually prevail. But Joseph Morgan's performance and charisma convinced Plec and other opponents to keep the character.
THERE WOULD BE NO ORIGINALS WITHOUT KLAUS
The reason why Julie Blake didn't kill Klaus in TVD season 3 is because of the development of the origins story. She believed there was a lot to tell about the Mikaelson family, exploring the stories of Kol, Rebekah, and Finn. She admitted that killing a character with so many stories and potential was a big mistake. Even Morgan told Blake that he didn't want to die because there was so much he could do with the character. TVD aired "The Originals" in 2013 which proved to be very successful.
Joseph Morgan revealed in an interview that it was the Mikaelson Ball scene in Season 3 that inspired Plec to launch the show. Joseph Morgan was greatly influenced by the fan-made art and videos for the TVD movie centering on the Mikaelson family. They did so long before Julie Plec and the network officially announced the spin-off project. Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Claire Holt are the stars who have retweeted and shared fan content on their social media. It was the fans who were said to have given the episodic title, "The Originals." Joseph Morgan was enthusiastic about the spin-off and actively campaigned for it.
THE INSPIRATION FOR KLAUS
Klaus Mikaelson is considered one of the scariest and most threatening characters in the TVD Universe. The character has a strange mystery about him. The first moment Joseph Morgan appeared on screen, there was a kind of deadly magic in his portrayal. Joseph Morgan revealed in an interview that he drew inspiration from characters such as Hannibal Lecter, Lestat (Interview with the Vampire), and Theodore Bagwell (Prison Break). He studied these characters and quoted certain aspects of his performance as Klaus. Joseph revealed in an interview that he wanted to be the unexpected Klaus, the kind of person you would have no idea what he would do in the next moment. And that made him so special, he would do something to win your heart and crush him the next minute.
HIS STORY IS FINISHED
Since the originals ended and the spin-off titled Legacies was announced, fans have been speculating about the possible appearance of Klaus on Legacies. Fans have been hoping for a short cameo from the Original Vampire for a long time. But Joseph Morgan ever closed the door to playing the character again. Joseph Morgan revealed his desire to have a specific story for Klaus that ended well after he sacrificed himself for hope. It was the greatest redemption of the character. He feels that there is no need for him to appear as a ghost, flashback, or any kind of inscription because it will only unravel what he did.
