Rippers are usually very brutal and dangerous sadistic vampires, usually they have turned off their humanity and do not care about their actions. They are driven by bloodlust and they have no control over themselves. All they desire is feeding.

Rippers are extremely brutal predatory vampires. When compared to ordinary vampires, they enjoy chasing humans for entertainment, play with their victim, and then completely destroy their victim, and do so without any remorse or hesitation. While it is generally believed that all rippers are evil killers, this is not the case. There are few self-control rippers who can regulate their emotions and experience love, protection, and compassion. So tragically consumed by the bloodlust these people have become that their morality is irrelevant. This was the case with Our Ripper Vampire Stefan Salvatore.
