Netflix's Canceled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. After Warner Bros. Succeeding with The CW's Riverdale, the decision to give it an accompanying show was made by introducing Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Unlike the 1990s TV series starring Melissa Joan Hart, this version of Sabrina was a much darker adaptation based on Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics.
Just as Riverdale was successful for CW, as well as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for Netflix. The flowing giant always seemed confident in the series, as Netflix renewed the renewal of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for seasons 3 and 4 just a few days after the Christmas series was broadcast. They started filming Season 2 before Season 1 premiered on Netflix. Overall, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has done well with fans of the classic Archie comic books as well as new books by Aguirre-Sacasa, but Netflix seems unsure of the series.
According to TV Line, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been canceled by Netflix. Season 4 will be the last season of the series, with the last eight episodes scheduled for premiere later this year. It is currently not known why Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was canceled, but Aguirre-Sacasa gave the TV line the following statement upon the announcement:
"Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television, and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four.”
While canceling Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is definitely annoying for fans of the series, Archieverse recently took another hit after canceling another Riverdale show, Katy Keene. Seems like Warner Bros. Trying to send Katy Keene to another platform, as HBO Max seems to be the most likely candidate. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 3 gave fans little hints about the Riverdale Crossover, but with the small size of connections, the cancellation of the Kieran Shipka series won't have any repercussions on Riverdale.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may be canceled, but fans still have the fourth season to look forward to. However, the cancellation means that fans will have higher expectations for the final season. There are still many stories that need to be finished, as the fourth season is likely to deal with the effects of time paradox, the cloning of Sabrina, as well as Father Blackwood summoning Eldrich Terror. Many fans didn't expect Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to end in season four, but this also gives Warner Bros an opportunity to focus on Riverdale, which goes back to season 5 in 2021. However, with two of the three Archieverse shows to be canceled, it will definitely make fans wonder what If Riverdale is next in the chopping block.
