Riverdale - Reveals Jughead is alive
Welcome Back Nation TV,
(Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Wednesday’s “Riverdale.”)
Welp, if you one of the “Riverdale” followers who denied to accept the show’s months-long tease that “Jughead” Pendleton Jones III had been killed, then Wednesday’s episode was the last nail in the coffin of your “there’s no way” thought.
Yes, despite the truth showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa continued to torture fans up till the very end, later it was revealed that Jughead is still alive and good and thanks to his best friends betty (Lili Reinhart), Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) — the ones that set up to get the fall for his “murder.”
While the hour, which meant aptly titled “To Die For,” Betty and Archie so convincingly faked a romantic relationship, one that the citizens of Riverdale — and followers at home — were intended to think developed following Jughead’s death.
Most of that was a show they all put on to fool Jughead’s Stonewall Prep classmate Donna Sweett (Sarah Desjardins) to think that Jughead is Actually dead, seeing because she was starting to suspect that she and her preppy crew had pulled off the “perfect murder” and managed to pin it at Archie and the group. (Yeah, it was nowhere near perfect: Jug managed to survive being bashed in the head with a rock thanks to his iconic beanie.)
To guarantee that Donna lastly accepted Jughead had been taken out, Archie and Betty went so far as to make out in the Riverdale teens’ “sex bunker,” knowing complete well that Donna did follow Betty and would find them down there. In fact, Jug was also under there the entire time also, yeah, pretty creeped out with what his girlfriend and a most loyal friend had to do to keep him covered.
But don’t worry, Betty loves Jughead and Archie likes Veronica and everything is good by the episode’s ending. Well, besides for the fact they, however, need to keep Jughead’s “alive” situation secret because Donna *was* convinced — but not so easy.
